Brilliant Braai was conceptualised, designed, and manufactured by Charles Miller from 18TEN. Brilliant Braai was conceived when Charles was designing a custom braai for his new home that would be both attractive, and offer a variety of cooking options. With a large extended family, having the option to cook different varieties of meat and vegetables simultaneously was a must.

Charles took to researching other open-fire cooking methods from around the world, gaining inspiration from South America. Charles incorporated a hoisting mechanism that would allow him to raise and lower his grid easily. He also took inspiration from the Greek souvlaki/spit method of cooking on an automated rotisserie so he added this component to his design and Brilliant Braai was born.

With our innovative system, you can effortlessly lift and lower your grill grid to achieve pin-point accuracy in temperature control ensuring that your food is cooked to perfection every time.

There are so many options when cooking with the rotisserie – lamb, beef, chicken, peppers, onions, mealies, mushrooms. There is even enough space to cook food on the rotisserie and on the grid simultaneously.

The braai consists of a four-poster frame made from grade 304 &/or grade 316 stainless steel with two grids and the option of adding on the automated rotisserie. Additionally, there is a knockdown version which is a convenient option for taking along when on holiday or camping. We recommend the knockdown version as it is quick to assemble and transports easily, furthermore it can be ordered with its own nylon bag.

Friends with built-in braais saw the rotisserie in action and also wanted one, so Charles designed the universal rotisserie. This comes with adjustable sides allowing it to fit into built-in braais from 750mm to 1300mm wide that slots into the rungs on the sides of the built-in braai. The universal rotisserie also transports easily with its own bag (purchased separately).

This is proper braai-tek! The rotisserie cooks everything evenly and nothing gets burned ... even if I get a little distracted. My favourite are the chops where it cooks through the bone and fat, leaving the inside lovely and moist and the fat crispy. The construction is really solid and of excellent quality. Also big thumbs up that its made of stainless steel - mild-steel grids just rust or break and always just look filthy. Very impressed all round!

I came across this braai concept at a market day and immediately was drawn to this contraption on the display table. Charles Miller gave me a demonstration and immediately I asked for a quote. I received my order in mid- December “JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS 😊” and what a pleasure its is to use it. The use of the skewers on the one side and using the grid on the other side makes braaiing a pleasure and not to mention the lever to raise and drop the grids. I can recommend Brilliant Braai’s for quality build and ease of use.

I am so impressed with the rotisserie function of the Brilliant Braai, it cooks lamb chops perfectly, the outside fat gets crispy and the inside is tender and delicious, not dry at all. I also love cooking sticky chicken wings on the rotisserie which means I am not having to constantly turn them to cook evenly or stop them from burning. The crank system works brilliantly

to move food out of the flames, such a simple concept that makes cooking on the open coals so much easier.
