The corrosion resistance of stainless steel stems from an extremely thin but tenacious and self-repairing film which forms on it’s surface.  It does not chip, flake, crack or break.

The best cleaning method for stainless steel finishes is to use a mild diluted detergent in warm water and rub in the direction of the finish.  It is best to select cleaners that say ‘suitable for stainless steel’.  Rinse and wipe dry afterwards.  Silicone based household polish, can be used on the cleaned and dried surface, but is not usually required.  Household cleaners (like Handy Andy) are not ideal and should only be used occasionally if required to remove stubborn grime. 

It is important to keep your braai and all the parts clean and wiped down after use.  Braai grids should not be left in the hot flames for long periods.
